To grant scholarship to eligible ST students for pursuing higher education starting from class 11 to post graduation level, the Government of Mizoram along with Ministry of Tribal Affairs has together starts a new scholarship program known as the Mizoram Pre Matric Scholarship to enable eligible schedule tribe students to undertake quality education from post matric to post graduate level by offering them with a means of education in the form of financial assistance to them. Under this scholarship government offers a scholarship amount to students from the scheduled tribe ST with a combined household income not exceeding Rs 2.5 lakh per annum.
In this, the fee component will depend on the type of courses pursued by the students, and the courses have been divided into 4 categories and named Group I, Group II, Group III, and Group IV. Objective of Mizoram Pre Matric Scholarship
The main objective of this scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to selected students from the Scheduled Tribe ST category so that they can easily continue their higher education as per their choice and field of interest. This scholarship is available only for ST category students whose parental income is less than Rs 2.5 lakh per annum from all sources.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarship applicant needs to clear the following eligibility criteria’s these are as follows:-
- Applicant must be a permanent resident of Mizoram.
- Applicant must belong to the Scheduled Tribe ST category.
- Applicant must have passed the matriculation or Higher Secondary or any higher examination of a recognised university or Board of Secondary Education.
- Applicant must have a valid account in a scheduled bank linked with Aadhar and mobile number.
- Annual income of the applying student’s family must be less than Rs 2.5 lakh per annum from all sources.
- Applicant must not have received any type of scholarship or support from any other scholarship program.
