About Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme
The University Grants Commission (UGC) launched the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme to support students belonging to the north eastern region. The scheme aims at helping the students financially for them to continue their higher education. Every year, thousands of new registration happens and students are selected for monthly financial assistance to pursue general degree, professional and any technical course across recognized institutions in India.

Objective Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme
The main objective of this scheme is to promote higher education in the North Eastern Region and provide them financial assistance so that they can pursue their desired course. This is to reduce drop out rates of students who often leave their education behind because of various financial barriers or lack of opportunities. It will encourage students from remote and rural areas of NER to access quality education in recognized institutions of india.

Eligibility Criteria
- The student must be the resident of any North Eastern State: Assam Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim or Tripura.
- Must have class 12th
- Must have taken admission in 1st year UG program
- The annual family income should not exceed Rs. 4.5 lacs
- The student must be enrolled in regular full-time course.

Financial benefits
- Rs.5,400 per month when the students are undertaking general courses in undergraduate degrees.
- Rs.7,800 in a month to the student pursuing technical, professional, medical or paramedical undergraduate education.
- Fully competitive scholarship is offered throughout the UG program (up to 3-5 years based on course).
- The amount will be deposited directly to the bank account of the student through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) every month.
- Helps students with living liability, education supplies, transportation and other study requirements.
- There are 10,000 students in the North Eastern Region who are benefitted annually.

- Students need to first visit the official National Scholarship Portal (NSP)
- New applicants are required to do the one-time registration (OTR)
- During the registration, students also need to do the aadhar based authentication
- Now after registration, log in to NSP with your OTR ID and start the application process.
- Search for the Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme 2025 and get the application form.
- In the application form, fill in all your details.
- Provide your personal and academic details along with the bank account details and course information
- Upload all the required documents carefully

Can all NER students apply for the scholarship?
No, the students with North Eastern domicile are eligible to apply. The income of the parents of the student should be below Rs. 04.50 lakh per annum.
Are students required to have a domicile certificate of NER ?
Yes, student should have a valid Domicile Certificate of any State of NER.
Can Student apply in the UG Scholarship when he has enrolled in Integrated programme?
In case of integrated programmes, the scholarship shall be given for UG component only
